Waka Group led the complete refurbishment of the former Tile & Slate building on Rutherford Street, transforming it into a modern and welcoming office for Ngāti Kuia. The extensive alteration created a functional, comfortable workspace tailored to the iwi's needs.

Glass partitions were used to define individual spaces while maintaining openness and flow. The layout includes a new kitchen, a relaxed lounge area, and a generous boardroom that is frequently used by external groups for hui and meetings.

Subtle design features, including patterned glass panels and display areas for artwork and taonga, reflect the identity of Ngāti Kuia while keeping the space practical and professional. The result is a flexible and connected environment that supports both day-to-day operations and shared use.
